My mom just called to say the news just reported that boats at Fort Washington Marina have sunk due to the snow. I'm guessing because of the weight.

Is your boat doing okay?

I have no idea. I'll have to call them tomorrow to see if the plastic wrap has survived all this snow.

Good luck with that, I'll have my fingers crossed for you. Even if your boat is alright, are you planning on heading out in the morning and cleaning it before the new storm hits? Who knows what a little extra weight could do...not that anyone wants to go out and do anything when it's 20 degrees and windy....

That happened here in Victoria a year or two ago as a result of heavy snow.

Nope. Not going to head down there. I don't have any wheels that would be any good in this mess. I'll just have to roll the dice and take my chances.

Hopefully Edgwater got less snow than we did here. Fortunately for me (I was in class today in Arlington) Ann and the kids got most of the snow off of the Arcadia--just in time for the next 10-20 inches to hit...

Not to wish ill on *anyone* with a boat, but maybe, just maybe, this will allow our boats to work reliably this year?

IIRC, that year when they had the marina fire up in Pasadena, neither you nor Lance nor I had any serious problems with our boats.

Probably unrelated and coincidental, but...

Don't forget the year that guy's boat was wiped out (along with part of his garage!) by a dropped jet engine. I seem to remember that being a pretty smooth year.

I called South River. They say the shrink wrapped boats have been holding up pretty well but they couldn't verify for me, at this time, how my boat was doing specifically; only that of the boats they can see none that were shrink wrapped had issues. They did say the boats that had left canvas up, instead of shrink wrap, were hurting pretty badly.

Yermo, my family lives on Turkey Point, I can have them check for you if you want - they got just as much snow as we did, with bad drifting due to the winds off the river.

Yep, that's right, I remember that--another good boating year.

Seems like every time someone makes a significant sacrifice to the boating gods up front, things go pretty well for the following season...

@Sonia that would be awesome. The marina won't walk out there to check for me. My boat is in slip AA4. When walking into the gravel parking lot from the road it's the last dock on the left. 2nd slip on the right. AA4.

I'm sure my uncle would be happy to check on it if he's not off fishing somewhere. I'll let you know - probably tomorrow though.
