Always tempting--unless you have clients or potential clients that will walk away from your site because they aren't supported...

I'm tempted to go that route all of the time. The reality is that unless you have a targeted niche and/or captive audience you have to support IE 6 and 7.

C'est la vie.

I don't get why large companies still use IE6. I guess if it was good enough in 2002, it's good enough in 2010.

I read a story about why so many Firefox users have not upgraded from 2.x to the 3.x versions. In v3 Firefox when you start typing in the URL bar, it has a search that looks for matches in your bookmarks and history file. I find it a great feature. However, it seems that people are burying their porn links deep in their bookmark hierarchy, which Firefox exposes nicely.

As for IE6 users, there really is no excuse. You can tell what browser they are using. Strongly suggest that they upgrade.

It's kind of unfortunate that FF 2 is also pretty broken.

YouTube to kill IE6 support on March 13th. Google is also killing support for IE6 on Google Mail, Google Docs, Google Sites, and Google Calendar.

Excellent!

That would be amazing if it were to be the final mortal wound of IE 6.

Typical, eh Yermo, that not too long after we go to all of the pain to get formVista to work with IE 6 that it should finally die. At least it was a very good exercise and we learned a lot in the process.

I would be /very/ happy to see IE 6 gone for ever.

Thanks for posting that, Mike.

It would nice for Microsoft to announce an end of life for IE6 instead of dragging it along until 2014 when XP will end.

Yeah, no kidding, but that's the other edge of the sword that you have to deal with when you make an application an integral part of your OS. I don't feel bad for them at all.

Based on this development, I don't think that IE 6 is too long for this world; at least in the practical sense.

If such a big provider like Google ceases to support it, it will drive the laggards to upgrade.
