This bears further checking, but the gist of the story is that BP drilled two wells (confirmed) abandoned the first one when it got into trouble (also confirmed), then drilled the second well which exploded. The theory put forward on this video

is that the media stunt of capping the well was done to the remains of the first well, not the major leak at the Deepwater Horizon site.

It appears the SKANDI NEPTUNE, which has been showing images of the "new cap for the BOP" is at the location of the FIRST well that blew, and NOT the second well (that destroyed the rig).
