Pad replaced and tested.

When I get back my calipers will probably need to be rebuilt and the rotors either turned or replaced.

The exhaust has cracked again in 4 places very badly. My hope is that it doesn't fail completely before I get back. I guess at this point I have no choice but to put a Remus afternarket exhaust on it. Oh well. I want to keep the bike.

This set of tires has 6K on them so I have to get to a city and have new tires mounted. They won't last much longer. I should be able to get a set in Edmonton.

If you're not too preoccupied with bike concerns, then instead of crossing the mountains and heading for Edmonton, ride south along the mountains, then turn east towards Calgary. According to google maps, it's only about thirty miles farther and will give you 112 miles along the Icefields Parkway. I've never been there, but that would certainly be the scenic way to go. As long as the place isn't crawling with RVs; ask at the park entrance.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I was thinking I would rather see Calgary than Edmonton. But I'll have to see what kind of cycle shops are there. I need tires again. I have 6k on this new set already.

Here's a Calgary shop you might want to visit:

Anderwerks Motorrad Spezialist is Canada's largest independant BMW service, repair, restoration, and performance tuning facility. Full mechanical services with Munich Factory trained technicians. We also do custom fabrication, machining, and welding. Owned and operated by riders for riders.

http://anderwerks.com/

#4, 3704 - 6th Street N.E.
Calgary, AB T2E 6K5
(403) 277-4269

ibmwr.org says "Dave is BMW factory trained, has the cleanest, best laid out shop I've ever seen, and will take your bike in right away when you're traveling through (the BMW dealer in Calgary won't). You'll get nothing but top quality from Anderwerk's. Dave is a totally cool guy."

Cool! Thanks!

Done. I'm going to Calgary. There are just too many things pointing in that direction ...
