Noooooooooooo! Don't do it. VDub has some serious manufacturing issues to sort out in the Mexico plants. If you must buy one, go to the trouble to find one made in Germany and not south of the border.

I ventured out of the world of Japanese cars with an '11 Jetta TDI. Nine months with this car has brought me three recalls and eight (!) service visits, I drive around with a piece of cardboard shoved in my dash to keep it from squeaking, and live in fear that the rattle in my A pillar will come back. One of the reasons I sold my 11 year old Civic Si was because it started to rattle, and I miss it every day. Oh and don't let me forget the intermittent jumpy idle on any morning it happens to be less than 25 degrees that I think is related to the fuel delivery system that was 'fixed' during one of the recalls. The only good thing I can say about the car is the fuel economy - I average over 50 mpg on the highway.

I will be back in the world of Japanese cars with my next purchase.
