There is a sports pub near the boat
in Edgewater, Md. called the Greene Turtle. It's located in the parking lot of a strip mall and often has quite an assortment of customized harleys out front. Neon signs light the place and American Big-Brew beer ads cover the walls.
They make a pretty decent steak and are open late.
More often than not, when I'm finished with the boat, I head over to the Greene Turtle for dinner. Over the last few years I've found that they consistently have some of the most outstanding wait staff and bartenders I have ever seen; my friends agree that it's uncanny the quality of people they've managed to employ. We've told them as much.
Their selection of liquor, however, leaves something to be desired.
So it came to pass one day that I asked the manager whether or not they might be able to get a bottle of single malt scotch. Mind you, this place has a blue collar, Harley riding, Budweiser/Miller drinking, NASCAR watching, buffalo wing eatin' clientele. I didn't really expect that they would ...
"what scotch do you want?" he asked.
This evening they proudly displayed a bottle of Dalmore 12; it may very well be the only bottle of Dalmore 12 in all of Southern Maryland. I have no idea why they went to all this trouble on my account .... but I am extremely grateful.
