Last Update: Thu, April 28th, 2008 - thank you to everyone who helped out and attended the service. The forum is closed and the photos upload is turned off but I will keep these pages here as a memorial.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Ellen at Jordon Kitts Music in College Park for arranging to get us a digital piano for Belina to play and have it delivered on ridiculously short notice.

See below for arrangements.

My sister, Gesa Maria Lamers, was killed in an auto accident on Piscataway Road on Wednesday, March 26th, 2008. She was visiting from Idaho to attend the family Easter Fire. Her 3 year old daughter, Aylin, survived but is currently in the hospital.

Thank you to everyone for the incredible outpouring of support. If you would like to reach me please use the Contact Yermo form on this site.

There will be a 1 hour viewing on Sunday, April 6th at 2PM at the Kalas Funeral Home in Oxon Hill, Md followed by a 1 hour service.  Because so many people cannot be present on Monday, we split the ceremony up into two pieces and the main ceremony will be on Sunday. People are encouraged to attend the service, even if you do not want to attend the viewing.

VIEWING at 2PM on April 6th:

Per request from a number of friends and family, there will be an open casket viewing in the funeral home viewing room next to the chapel for the first 30 minutes and the the casket will be closed for the second 30 minutes. Some family members requested an open casket, some a closed casket. We are trying to accommodate both.

The service will be held in the chapel at the funeral home. Belina is scheduled to play two beautiful pieces she composed for/with Gesa. You are encouraged to attend the service as there will be no similar event at the burial on Monday.

Afterward the service at the funeral home, there will be a catered reception (Thanks Tom!) at the home of my mother (aka Fort Lamers) for those who wish to join us.

BURIAL at 1PM on Monday April 7th:

The burial will happen on Monday April 7th at 1PM at Saint Mary's Church on Piscataway Road. There will be no procession from the funeral home. We will meet in the cemetery to lay my sister to rest. We are pleased that we secured the cemetery plot right next to my fathers grave. I think Gesa would have liked that.  It will be a simple ceremony and should last well under an hour.

There will be no formal reception after the burial but relatives and close friends are encouraged to stop by my mothers house afterwards. You are encouraged to bring small dishes.

Flowers can be sent to the funeral home.

A number of people have asked about donations. With everything going on at the hospital and making arrangements and trying to coordinate guests flying in from out of town and over seas we have not had a chance yet to set anything up for donations.

With everything that's going on I don't know if I'm going to have a chance to create a real email announcement list. If you are reading this, PLEASE LET PEOPLE KNOW.

We have put up a forum that you can register for where you can share memories, thoughts and anecdotes about Gesa.

In addition, there's a place where you can upload photos to share.
